About us

The “Berghotel Wieshof,” as it was formerly known

The Wieshof was opened on May 13, 1977, by Margot Busch and her husband Rainer, a native of Swabia. The Wieshof owes its name to its special location: it was built on a spacious meadow and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountain landscape.
After a tragic blow in 1983, the death of Rainer Busch at the age of 35, the hotel was on the verge of being sold. With a mountain of debt, two children, and a lot of ambition and will to survive, Margot managed to get the hotel back on its feet with the help of her son Gerd. It was clear to the eldest son, Gerd, that he had to support his mother, so after graduating from school, he began an apprenticeship as a chef at the Hotel Steigenberger in Grafenau. After completing his apprenticeship, he gained experience in Switzerland and eventually joined his parents’ business as a fully-fledged chef, thus taking on a great deal of responsibility for the hotel at a young age.

Today, the Wieshof is already in its third generation. After graduating from high school, Simon Busch studied tourism management and became a nutritionist and personal trainer. He is taking on more and more responsibility. His great passion is cooking, and so he works alongside his father in the kitchen—with passion, heart, and the desire to harmonize health, tradition, and modernity.

At Wieshof, 12 hard-working employees are currently working together to ensure that our guests have a pleasant stay. From the kitchen to the housekeeping team, we all pull together and support each other in a family atmosphere. Respectful interaction with one another and enjoyment of our work characterize our everyday life and make Wieshof a place where both guests and employees feel at home.
